A PAIR of solicitors are swapping their law books for trainers as they get ready to embark on a running challenge to help a children’s hospice charity.

Kelly Stant and Edward Nutting, of Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors in Oswestry, have signed up to run the Conwy Half Marathon on November 18 in aid of Hope House and Ty Gobaith.

Kelly, who is a clinical negligence solicitor, said she was determined to raise as much money as possible by completing the run after seeing first-hand how important the hospices were for people in the area.

“Anyone who knows me will appreciate I am not known as a runner,” she said

“I am not sure if I am dreading it or really looking forward to it, but I am totally committed to doing my best and raising funds for such a good cause.

“I visited Ty Gobaith recently and was so impressed with the facilities and support they provide which is hugely appreciated by the families who rely on it at an incredibly difficult point in their lives.

“It takes £6.3 million per year to run the charity and the majority of that comes from fundraising and donations.

“They are quite rightly very proud of the fact that out of every £1 donated, 86p goes directly towards the cost of care for each child.

“Ty Gobaith and Hope House are a vital lifeline to so many families in such difficult circumstances and I am honoured to be able to help in a small way.”

Edward Nutting, who is a partner at Lanyon Bowdler, works from the firm’s meeting rooms in Conwy, so he knows the route of the half marathon well.

“Anyone who lives or works in the North Wales area will be familiar with Ty Gobaith and the amazing support it gives to children and their families,” he said.

“We are very grateful for any donations that our friends, clients and colleagues can give to help us raise much-needed funds so Ty Gobaith can continue with its amazing work.”

Beverley Bradley, area fundraiser for Hope House, added: “We are delighted that staff from Lanyon Bowdler are taking part in the Conwy Half Marathon next month and have chosen to support Ty Gobaith and Hope House.

“Their fundraising means so much to the babies, children, young adults and their families that we care for at both of our hospices.”
