Scott Ruscoe insisted he was happy overall with The New Saints demolition job on Llandudno Town last night – despite a late goal denying them a clean sheet.

TNS raced to a 4-0 lead at half-time, thanks to doubles from Greg Draper and Ryan Brobbel, before two more goals in the second half allowed the pair to complete hat-tricks.

Town grabbed a consolation late on, but while Ruscoe was disappointed with the goal, he insisted the win was emphatic enough to set his side up well for Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with Connah's Quay Nomads.

"I thought we were excellent in the first half and I couldn't fault any of the players," he told TNS TV.

"I told them at half-time to go out and keep doing what they were doing and add to their tally.

"The goals were very good finishes; they're doing what we've asked of them and we could have had a few more if we're being honest.

"But we'll take another six goals. However, the only blot on the night was the goal that Llandudno didn't really have to work hard to get.

"They didn't test us in the first half. Paul Harrison saved one in the centre of the goal and it was a good one in the end but that is the only slight negative over the 90 minutes.

"It's because 6-0 seems like a drubbing. We're being picky but we want clean sheets and we want to not give goals away easily.

"We were able to give players like Christian Seargeant some minutes, as he hasn't had many, and Kurtis Byrne too.

"There's 20 plus players here who need game time.

"I'm looking forward to the weekend; they're a good side who I went to see on Tuesday night.

"We're in an unfamiliar position of being second so it shows someone is ready to take our top spot."

TNS trail Nomads by two points at the top of the Welsh Premier League and would overtake them with a win at Park Hall.

Kick-off is 7.30pm and is live on Sgorio.
