Police looked to have undertaken a large police operation on Ruthin Road on Tuesday morning.
Residents travelling past the travellers site on Ruthin Road were greeted by a heavy police presence, causing tailbacks for the rush hour traffic.
North Wales Police were on the scene from around 9am, although by 9.40am they had stood down and departed.
They were responding to reports that a vehicle on the site was on cloned plates, although it was later determined that the plates were legitimate.
A police spokesman said: "A suspect vehicle checked by officers has since been shown to be on legitimate plates. Enquiries continue.”
