Lovers of vocal and choral music will have the first opportunity to hear the modern masterwork
Missa Popularis by the world – renowned Swedish composer Marten Jansson.
This sublime and joyous work based on Swedish Folk song and dance will be performed by
the versatile Oswestry Ladies Choir conducted by Dawn Jaffray and will be accompanied by a string quartet and pianist Elizabeth Dobson.
The choir has been very lucky to secure the assistance of the composer, whose warmth, interest
and generosity has resulted in dedicated, enthusiastic rehearsals by the choir, who are excited to
bring this appealing work to Oswestry.
The concert takes place in Holy Trinity Church Oswestry on Saturday October 20 at 7.30pm.
Tickets, costing £10 for adults, under 16 free (refreshments included), may be obtained from choir members or on the door.
