A local family-owned supermarket has opened its new 24-hour store in Welshpool.
Harry Tuffins unveiled its latest petrol station and convenience store at 9am on Wednesday, October 3.
The £3 million investment on land at the entrance to Buttington Cross Enterprise Park has created more than 25 full and part time jobs.
The 3,000 square foot store on the outskirts of Welshpool has 12 petrol pumps and an HGV lane.
Open seven days a week, the store has produce from over 100 suppliers from Wales and the Borders such as Llaeth Y Llan, Henllan Bakery, and Montgomery Vineyard and Kerry Vale wines.
"We're not your average convenience store," says commercial director Harry Delves, "we've got a lot more going."
"We are excited because we are focusing on local products too – in a small store we have managed to include over 100 suppliers from Wales and the Borders – we are calling this range the Best of Wales and the Borders. There is room to grow that too.
He added: "But we have a lot more on offer. We are proud to be able to offer Cook Frozen Food, Tanners Wines, Costa Coffee, our famous Guids In Section and then a fantastic range of groceries through our retail partners at Nisa Local. At Tuffins we love a bargain and there will be plenty on offer here!"
Mr Delves’ late great-grandfather, Harry Tuffin established a store in Churchstoke in the 1950s and built up a number of stores across the region until the business was sold to The Midcounties Co-operative in 2012.
Harry Tuffins currently has a supermarket in Craven Arms and a petrol station in Builth Wells.
