Shropshire Union Canal Society volunteers will continue with channel shaping, lining and block laying on the Montgomery Canal Restoration project between Pryces Bridge and Crickheath near Pant.

The aim is to complete at least 35 metres over this weekend, October 5 to 7.

There will be then less than 35 metres to go, to reach the December target point – the end of section two - at a dam, which will then be filled with water to test it.

Volunteers are more than welcome to join.

Contractors, engaged by CRT, to construct the Winding Hole at Crickheath, are making rapid progress installing piling along a considerable length of the winding hole.

It is estimated that both ends of the 735 metre stretch will be restored, in water, and have boats on it by 2020 / 21.
