Four members of staff at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital have been named finalists in the Patient Choice Award – and it’s up to you to decide who takes home the special title.

Past and present patients of the Oswestry-based hospital were asked to nominate a member of staff who went above and beyond.

The winner – who will be selected by a public vote online – will receive the award at the Celebration of Achievement Awards at the Lion Quays Hotel on November 22.

Over 30 nominations were submitted and a shortlisting panel met to decide the final four who are being put to public vote. The fabulous four are:

- Ffion Evans, physiotherapist on Alice Ward, the dedicated children’s ward

- Mr Pete Gallacher, consultant orthopaedic surgeon

- Clare Jones, theatre support worker

- Belinda Potts, healthcare assistant on the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries

Lisa Lake, who nominated Ffion, said: “My son Arthur had ongoing treatment on Alice Ward and Ffion really goes that extra mile for me with nothing being too much trouble.

“Her attitude to patients is exceptional and she brings smiles and results to every child she works with.”

Mr Gallacher was nominated by Alison Morris and Julie Lane. Alison said: “I had a left total knee replacement in February 2016 and a right total knee replacement in October 2017 performed by Mr Gallacher.

“Who knows what I would be doing today if I hadn’t believed in him and trusted him. I am totally pain free and feel like I can now conquer the world.”

Clare was nominated by Sophie Pownall, who said: “She had gone down to inform my mum I was out of surgery and then came straight back up and was there next to me stroking my hair and drying my eyes from crying.

“Clare was there when I needed that support the most – she is absolutely amazing and forever in our thoughts for how she helped me and my family that day.”

Belinda received three nominations from Rose Jones, Janice Calcutt and Tim Bourne. Janice said: “Her experience and compassion in dealing with spinal injury patients is extraordinary.

“Her sunny nature and sense of humour is like a breath of fresh air.”

Voting closes at midnight on Sunday October 14.
