AN ANNUAL tournament will offer plenty of competition for the county's boccia players.
The Shropshire Boccia Tournament starts with the Oswestry area heat at the town's leisure centre on Thursday, September 27.
The heat - coinciding with National Boccia Day - will see competitors of all ages and abilities play the game, which is form of bowls played while seated.
A spokesman for Shropshire RCC, which organises the event with colleges in the area, said: "It is an opportunity for local teams to get together for a fun and friendly morning of sport, refereed by the college students."
There are five area heats, leading to a final in Shrewsbury on October 25.
Teams of three people are invited to enter the competition. The entry fee is £7.50 per team.
