A LARGE crowd gathered for the unveiling of a mesmerising wind sculpture.

Stanley Jankowski in Llanfyllin Town Square by the mayor, Cllr Simon Baynes.

Mr Jankowski makes wind sculptures in his workshop on the Llanfyllin Industrial Estate and has donated one to go on the town square in Llanfyllin for a year. After that another public art work will be displayed in the same position on the square.

Cllr Baynes, said:“We are delighted to be able to celebrate the work of Stanley Jankowski who is a Llanfyllin artist and sculptor of national renown. His wind sculpture, which is called Woo Woo, is already a Llanfyllin landmark and also a symbol of the community’s desire to make Llanfyllin a centre for the arts and creativity.”

Stanley Jankowski said: “Thank you to the mayor for his kind speech and to Llanfyllin Town Council for displaying my wind sculpture, Woo Woo, so prominently in the town square.

“It looks great in its new position and can be clearly seen by visitors driving through Llanfyllin. I feel very honoured and much appreciate the recognition of my work.”
