A RENOWNED metal work artist has donated one of his pieces for display in the town.

Llanfyllin-based artist Stan Jankowski has lent one of his creations to be showcased in Llanfyllin town square.

The sculpture, entitled Helix, will be officially unveiled at 6pm on Friday, August 31.

Working mainly in metals, Mr Jankowski creates bespoke pieces for individuals, businesses and public buildings.

Town councillors unanimously welcomed having the sculpture on display in Llanfyllin during meeting in July.

It is set to be displayed for around a year. Mayor of Llanfyllin, Cllr Simon Baynes, said that the plan was to place another piece on display, perhaps by Mr Jankowski or another artist.

He added: “We are very grateful for Stan’s generosity to the town and there is already huge interest in the prospect of this remarkable wind sculpture being erected in the town square.

"We want to make Llanfyllin a major centre for the arts and creativity and welcome other ideas for public art works in the town.”
