AN ORGANISATION has praised for its work to reduce flooding.
Councillor Simon Baynes, mayor of Llanfyllin, has hailed the Severn Rivers Trust for its activities.
He said: "The Trust is very active in Llanfyllin and has had considerable success in improving the flow of the River Cain and helping environmental groups and activities in the Bodfach Field and elsewhere in the town.β
Cllr Baynes and Cllr Sue Newham, mayor of Newtown, met Dewi Morris and Lisa Barlow from the trust at its Llanfyllin show stand earlier this month.
Cllr Newham said: "The Severn Rivers Trust do a great job and it was good to catch up with them on their stand at the Llanfyllin Show.
"I really enjoyed coming to the show and really wished I could have stayed longer."
Lisa Barlow added: "βThe Severn Rivers Trust are promoting the installation of 'Rain Gardens' or sustainable drainage schemes to reduce flooding and river pollution.
"The model house shown on our stand at the Llanfyllin Show has been taken to local schools, including Llanfyllin High School where pupils have been involved in the design of a scheme and Meifod Primary school where children helped to plant a rain garden.β
