STUDENTS in Wales have been praised for their exam achievements.

Chris Keates, general secretary of the teacher's union NASUWT, praised students for their A/AS Level and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate results.

“Congratulations to the young people and their teachers who have worked so hard to deliver another year of excellent results," he said

“The future of many of our young people will be influenced by these results, so today we need to celebrate the success and achievement of students following their hard work throughout these courses.

“Our young people are succeeding under tremendous pressure.

“Despite the challenges faced from underfunding and increased workload, teachers have pulled out all the stops to ensure that young people are supported to achieve their best.”

Rex Phillips, NASUWT national official for Wales, said:“Today is about celebrating the success of our students in Wales and the dedication and devotion of their teachers.

“With these results showing all-round improvement it is to be hoped politicians of all parties at the Senedd will set aside their tendency to pore over the results in an attempt to find political advantage and offer their congratulations to students and their teachers for a job well done.”
