FIREFIGHTERS battling the Llantysilio mountain fire have been facing dangers other than the blaze.
Owing to the tough mountainside conditions and and a lack of firm terrain, some of the fire service's 4x4 fire engines have rolled over.
Over the course of the last week, three of the fire service's Bremach offroad fire engines have tipped over, but despite this there have been no reported injuries.
Senior operations manager Stuart Millington said: “There have been three incidents involving specialist off road vehicles attending the mountainside fire near Llangollen – one occurred early last Friday morning, one on Saturday evening and one early on Monday morning.
“We have ensured the members of staff involved have all received appropriate medical checks – and thankfully no one has been seriously hurt.
“Investigations are now underway into these incidents.
“We would not expect such incidents to be a normal occurrence - they are as a result of the exceptional conditions in which we have been working.”
Firefighters are still in attendance to monitor the area and check for hotspots which can flare up in the hot weather.
