AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following a large fire at the Kronospan factory in Chirk.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call at about 10pm yesterday reporting a blaze at a factory in the town.
Pictures shared on social media last night showed flames and thick black smoke pouring from the Kronospan site.
Five fire crews attended the site and used a pair of aerial ladders, a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and four sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames.
The last crew left the site just before 1.30am this morning.
A spokesman for the fire and rescue service told the Leader an investigation has been launched in order to determine the cause and the extent of the damage.
