COUNCIL chiefs are confident that a new information, advice, support and respite service for carers will continue standards of service.

Cllr Joan Lowe, Wrexham Council lead member for health and adult social care, spoke about the switch to North East Wales Carer Information Service (NEWCIS).

She said: "I’m confident that the standard of service sustained under former providers will continue under the new arrangements with NEWCIS.

“The hard work carried out by carers is very important, so we want to be absolutely sure that they’re getting the support they need.”

NEWCIS - who previously provided the carers information service until 2011 - has replaced Wrexham Carers Service, Hafal and Crossroads.

A Wrexham Council spokesman said that all registered carers have been written to by their current provider about the arrangements.

NEWCIS will make contact with them over the next few months.
