A VETERAN charity fundraiser has danced his way to another bumper sum.

Glyn Jones, 81, of Hampton Fields in Oswestry, raised more than £1,000 with his latest dancy party at Morda Village Hall.

Mr Jones decided to raise funds for charity after his wife Madge died aged 68 of cancer 11 years ago.

She died the day before her husband's 70th birthday, but Mr Jones went ahead with the party and asked friends to donate money to the haematology unit at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital - where his wife was treated - and Hope House Children's Hospice.

Mr Jones dances modern jive in Llay and at Priory School in Shrewsbury every week, as well as Argentine tango in Eccleston, Cheshire.

Over the years, he and and his friends have raised £7,320 for the charities.

He said: "I just enjoy the parties and the people who come enjoy them, so what better way to give money to the people who treated my wife, and Hope House as well."

His son David added: "I'm really proud of what he's done and his dancing keeps him fit and agile."
