THERE was plenty of fun to be had at a school fundraising event.

Friends of Our Lady and St Oswald's Catholic Primary School have raised more than £500 from a summer fair towards new facilities.

The parent’s association at the school held the fair to raise money for a revamp of their outdoor area at the school.

Raising just short of £600, they are hoping to make improvements to the pond and play area to enhance the pupils scientific studies.

Attractions included facepainting, beat the goalie and numerous stalls ran by year six pupils from the school.

Bethan Porritt, a member of the PA, helped to organise the event.

She said: "It was a really fun day for all the children and visiting families.

"There was something for everyone and it was so nice to see such good attendance."

The event helped to push even closer to their target needed to fund the new pond and outdoor area.

Bethan said: "We're a registered charity so we're constantly fundraising.

"Mrs Rothera at the school has been instrumental in maintaining the outdoor area and organising events to look after the school."

The school's outdoor area once won best kept garden in Oswestry, which is something the school would like to claim again.

More events will be taking place in the future to raise money for the school, including raffles and quizzes.
