POLICE were called after a man had an unknown substance thrown into his face on an Oswestry street.
The incident happened at Willow Street at around 9.30am on Thursday morning.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said that the man, who is in his 30s, had a sore eye which he treated himself with water.
The spokesman added that the substance has not yet been analysed but that the ambulance service had said it was not strong enough to cause harm.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a 999 call from the police at 9.32 this morning to Willow Street, Oswestry.
"One ambulance attended and treated a man in his 30s who had suffered minor eye irritation. The man declined further hospital treatment and was discharged on scene."
