Organisers of the Whitchurch Cancer Research UK Relay for Life were left delighted after another hugely successful weekend at Alderford Lake.

Hundreds took part in the popular annual event which saw teams walking around the beautiful surroundings of Alderford over a 24-hour period, with plenty of entertainment for man, woman and child plug four-legged friends.

Attendees and participants were rewarded with some outstanding weather as the UK's heatwave continued with plenty taking to care to stay safe and shaded in the sun.

Organiser Ruth Hislop took Facebook to say thanks: "What an amazing and hard working committee, who have worked tirelessly and continuously since Friday to set the site up, run the 24-hour relay and then to take it down.

"Despite the soaring temperatures we got through it and all I can say I am mega proud of the team I lead and honoured to have them – sadly I was out of action to a degree this weekend and they all stepped up with their families and friends to help to make this one of our best relays. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
