Swimmers from across Shropshire and beyond took advantage of the temperatures to enjoy last week's open water swimming at Ellesmere mere.

The Trismart club welcomed 80 swimmers to the mere on Tuesday night for its weekly event.

Members and visitors can choose to complete a 500 metre course or one or two laps of a market mile course around the mere.

Chairman, Sarah Jane Thomas, said that the club had a safety boat on the water throughout the evening.

"Many of our more experienced swimmers chose to go in without their wetsuits, the water was an amazing 23 degrees," she said.

"Wetsuits give swimmers more buoyancy and we recommend them or tow floats for safety."

"If people haven't swum in open water before we ask them to try the 500 metre course first."

Trismart swimming takes place every Tuesday night throughout the summer at 6pm, free for Trismart members and £4 for non members.
