A WELL-KNOWN choir that has sung at venues such as Wembley Stadium and at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games is coming to Oswestry.

The London Welsh Male Voice Choir and guest artists Samantha Lewis, mezzo-soprano, and Jack Hancher on guitar will be performing at the Holy Trinity Church in Roft Street, Oswestry, on Saturday June 16 at 7.30pm.

Proceeds from the evening will go to two charities – Macmillan Cancer Support group and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Hadyn Jones, the organiser, said: “I’ve chosen Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of my father John David Jones, who sang for local male voice choirs, and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund in memory of my good friend Peter Davies.”

The London Male Voice Choir was formed in 1902 and now has more than 100 members.

The choir has toured extensively throughout the UK, performing at the Millennium Stadium and Royal Albert Hall, as well as in 14 countries across the world.

Tickets are £18 for adults and £9 for children and students, and are available from Music Makers in Oswestry on 01691 654510, Rowanthorn in Oswestry on 01691 238227, Eirianfa Stores in Penybontfawr 0345 6112970, Gegin Fach in Llanrhaeadr 01691 780580 and from Haydn Jones 01691 658414.
