It's a staggering sight when a large group of motorcyclists take to the roads.

But the group of 30 who stopped off in Oswestry recently would certainly have made you look twice.

That's because they were dressed as 'distinguished gentlemen'!

Sporting a strong selection of tweed, flat caps and of course, handlebar moustaches, the group stopped off at Mile End services and Nesscliffe services as part of their ride in aid of male cancer charities.

Steve Jones, organiser of the dapper event, said they raised £500.

He continued: "It went really well, we had about 30 bikes and we're pleased with how much was raised."

The 70-mile round trip took them across the border to Llanrhaeadr and even into Oswestry town centre.

"We had quite a few stares which so many people riding Harleys and sporting deerstalkers," said Steve, "but it certainly raised the profile of the event.

"We'd like to make it annual gathering now."

The idea for the fundraiser came from Roger Kirkham - jokingly known by his friends as Lord of Maesbrook - who suggested they all dress up.

Steve, who event included a monocle and pipe in his outfit, explained: "There is a national event like this but nothing like this in this area.

"The guys made such a great effort and they had a good laugh for a good cause."

Currently the group is looking for a local men's cancer charity branch which could benefit from the money.
