A special race organised by a student at Moreton Hall School has raised over £2,500.

Emily King, a Lower Sixth student, organised the inaugural Race for Life for Cancer Research UK which took place earlier this month, after she felt it was time the school got involved in the fight against cancer.

Emily said: “Sport is a big deal at Moreton Hall, so it seemed an obvious choice to combine raising money for Cancer Research with a nice big run!

"Cancer Research UK supported the school from start to finish with staging the event, which saw over 200 people taking part – most dressed in pink and all wearing big smiles on their faces.”

Alison McDonald, director of Sport at Moreton Hall added: “It was such a positive, fun and happy event to be involved with. Everyone pulled together for a fantastic cause – the grounds team worked hard to get the course ready, and our catering manager, Stephen Conroy, along with his team, provided a really lovely barbecue for everybody afterwards in the sunshine.

"There was a great atmosphere all day!”

In total the day raised £2,503.23.
