A new exhibition space has been launched in Oswestry.

Designs in Mind - a social enterprise which works with individuals with mental health challenges - opened up the doors of its neighbouring shop JOLT, based on Cross Street, to reveal the new space.

The opening exhibition is called 'I'm Fine' and is a collection of stories from people in Oswestry detailing how difficult day-to-day life can be.

Catherine Wilks, from Designs in Mind, said: "It's not until you read the stories that you realise how diverse mental ill health can be.

"When we were just a studio we were hidden away and there was no way for anybody to really engage with us, but today has allowed a chance for family and friends to come along and communicate with us which is really lovely - it's brought people in."

She continued: "We will change the exhibition space. We have plans for an exhibition to tie in with the Wilfred Owen Festival later in the year, and we want people to come up with idea of what we can use this space for."

Mayor of Oswestry, Councillor Sandy Best, who attended the open morning that coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week, said: "I am pleased that Designs in Mind came down into the town centre with the opening of Jolt because they need to showcase what they do.

"They have done some fantastic stuff in the time I have known them."
