Oswestry Town Council has presented a cheque of £5,500 to Shropshire Council for the towns youth services.
This has secured youth services for 2018/19 after Shropshire Council experienced a shortfall in budget.
Councillor Vince Hunt thinks it is extremely important to support these services.
He said: "My children have been so lucky, they've had two parents to make sure they get the best start in life they can get. Unfortunately every child is not in such a privileged position. The transition of being a child to teenager and teenager to a young adult is difficult.
"What the youth services provides is support and help for young people. It's not just children in need but those who may be experiencing some struggles in growing up. Growing up can be stressful and these services creates space if they need it.
"I don't believe in bad teenagers I believe they just need extra help.
"I think it is important to invest in young people and I give a huge amount of my time to support them."
