Oswestry's Traffic and Townscape Group have suggested a programme to Shropshire Council which will look to improve the town.

At Oswestry Town Council's development and planning committee, David Ward from Oswestry Civic Society gave a presentation to update the councillors on the Traffic and Townscape Group's suggestions of a programme that would be fundable in the next few years, which may have the greatest impact in improving the economic viability of the town.

The need to improve the town began when Oswestry 2020, the neighbourhood plan noted a slow deterioration in the public realm of Oswestry town centre. As a result, the town council and Shropshire Council commissioned Mouchel to produce a Public Realm straetgy for the improvement of public areas, such as streets and parks, and to enhance the identity of the town.

Mr Ward said: "The production of the strategy was steered by a Traffic and Transport Group, chaired by Councillor Chris Schofield.

"The group included officers and members from the town and Shropshire Councils, and other people with experience they could bring to the subject.

"The strategy, which was reported in June last year, described and costed a range of street improvements
