Patients, visitors and staff at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) will have the chance to win a fantastic food hamper while supporting end of life care.

The hamper has been donated by the catering team and will be raffled off to support the Swan Fund at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which runs RSH.

The Swan Fund was set up to help to pay for improvements in end of life care, which is symbolised by a swan logo.

Tickets, which will cost £1 each, will go on sale on Monday (April 16) at Caffe Bistro, with the winner being announced during Dying Matters Week, which runs from May 14-20.

Nick Parkin, senior catering manager at SaTH, said: “The hamper was a donation from one of our fantastic suppliers. We have done a lot of work with the End of Life Care Team and we decided we could raffle it off, and give the proceeds to the Swan Fund. The work they do is incredible and invaluable, and we are delighted to be able to make this small contribution to their work.”

Jules Lewis, End of Life care facilitator, added: “We are very grateful to the catering team for this generous donation.

“Every penny raised for the Swan Fund goes to helping to improve care for people at the end of their lives.

“This is an incredibly important part of the care we give at SaTH. We only have one chance to get it right for every patient, every time.”
