Councillors have paid tribute to a former colleague and well-known Glyn Ceiriog man.
Cllr Eric Evans died in January aged 69.
Mr Evans had served as a Glyn Ceiriog community councillor since 2004 and was completely dedicated to his role, serving two years as vice-chairman and two years as chairman.
Trevor Bates, Wrexham County Borough councillor for the Ceiriog Valley, said: “Eric was known for being a good listener for people to voice their concerns.”
He was also on the council for Wales which met at Aberystwyth twice annually.
Mr Evans was a local man, having lived at Tregeiriog, Llwynmawr and Glyn Ceiriog.
“He was a proud Welshman and a member of Plaid Cymru,” said Cllr Bates.
“He always promoted the Welsh language and supported projects involving children, the aged and various charities.
“He was a caring, family man who, when not in work, would be with his grandchildren, whom he doted upon.
“He was also renowned for the care he showed his mother-in-law over very many years.”

  •  Glyn Ceiriog Community Council has also welcomed a new member.

Einion Davies was recently co-opted onto the community council to fill a vacancy after Anne Lloyd Morris stepped down.
Cllr Davies follows in the footsteps of his late father, Theo Davies, who was a community councillor for many years and a director of the family wood products company Theo Davies & Sons, which manufactures medical equipment, from standing frames for people with spinal injuries, to custom-made beds for disabled children.
Cllr Davies has a keen interest in rugby and undertakes key roles for Llangollen Rugby Club. He is also vice-chair and fixture secretary for the junior section at Glyn Ceiriog Rugby Club.

The vacancy will be advertised locally for a short period of time, during which 10 or more members of the electorate may write to Wrexham County Borough Council requesting an election, otherwise existing community councillors will be able to co-opt a replacement.
