Tickets are now on sale for Oswestry's very first charity colour run.

Taking place on July 1, participants can run, jog or walk around the British Ironwork Centre's sculptures while being bombarded by paint thrown by the Shropshire Girl Guides, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The first runners will set off around the 3km track at 9.30am, with a new race starting after every hour until 1.30pm.

Chairman of the Ironworks, Clive Knowles, said: “We need to revitalise efforts and increase our efforts in line with the additional weight that cancer is putting on our society.

“It’s going to be a day when we really push cancer back.”

The event will host several stalls, an MC, a DJ, as well as a cannon to launch the start of the event.

Participants will be provided with a T-shirt to wear during the race, with a prize being given to whoever is the most splattered by the end, as well as a medal for everyone who takes part.

Entry costs £16.50, or £12.50 for a child, with places being available to be booked until June 15 and can be bought from www.oswestrycolourrun.co.uk

The Ironworks is also looking for any more businesses that are willing to sponsor the event or put together their own team to participate.
