The countdown is on to this year's League of Friends' Swimathon.

Launching in April, the fundraiser is in aid of the Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen and is organised by its LofF group.

Entry is free and you can set as big a swimming goal as you like.

A spokesperson for the League of Friends said: "Whether you are working in a team relay or as an individual, The League of Friends to RJAH encourages you to set yourself realistic targets to your ability.

"If appropriate, ensure you have been given full medical clearance from your GP to take part in the challenge.

"Beginners may wish to agree their target with a family member or swimming instructor. If one length is a suitable goal – please give it a splash!"

To register call 01691 404401 or 01691 404527 or email league.friends@rjah.nhs.uk and they can record your name onto the 2018 Swimathon database and send you a free wristband. You can then download your sponsorship form and make a Just Giving page before completing your swim.

The fundraiser runs until October.
