TNS boss Craig Harrison refused to say the title was all but wrapped up after watching his side record their 13th successive league victory.

Second-half goals from Wes Fletcher, Chris Seargeant and Jon Routledge maintained Saints’ perfect start to the campaign against second-placed Gap Connah’s Quay.

But Harrison has thrown down the gauntlet to his players and set his sights on surpassing Bangor City’s six-year-old Welsh Premier League record of 15 consecutive league victories.

He said: “You say the title is wrapped up, but no, we’ve got little things we want to do – personally I want to win every game. And I’ve got a good group of like-minded players who want to do that.

“The win puts us closer to 15 games winning at the start, which Bangor did the last time they won the title.

“I am over the moon with the result, but they didn’t have a centre half on the pitch so we can’t get carried away.”

With Sunday’s game goalless at the interval, it was Harrison’s inspired double substitution 10 minutes into the second half that won it.

The introduction of Fletcher and Seargeant proved decisive and their manager has urged his players to to go and win an unprecedented “treble treble” this season.

He added: “We had decisions to make and we looked at it tactically because they did a good job on us man for man.

“We wanted to freshen things up with Seargeant and Fletcher, and they come on and score goals - so it turned out to be the right decision.

“The key thing is that we have five or six lads in the dressing room who haven't won anything with the club.

“Ryan Pryce, Steve Saunders, Jon Routledge, Ryan Brobbel, who has only won a few trophies, and Robbie Parry are fresh to the club and want to win things, as well as the senior pros who keep things ticking along.”
