The fourth annual Oswestry Community Games were held on Sunday in Cae Glas Park.
Despite the awful weather overnight, conditions improved rapidly in the morning and organisers were rewarded with around 1,000 people of all ages attending.
The introduction of the dance area proved particularly successful, while organisers were pleased to see new activities including archery, hockey and paddlesports so well supported.
The day’s guest of honour was Mark Fosbrook of the Team GB Wheelchair Basketball squad.
Key organiser of the games, Clive Knight, said: “It was very encouraging to see the progression made from last year’s Games to introduce new local organisations and consequently provide a more varied programme across the breadth of physical activity.
“Many thanks go to all our numerous local sponsors, to the working group for their hard work throughout the year, and in particular to Hazel Davis – our arts coordinator.”
