Hotshot hits four to send girls into next round of cup
Central Wales Cup
Penrhyn Coch Ladies 2,
Llanfyllin Ladies 4
SHELLEY Roberts scored all four of Llanfyllin’s goals to add to her impressive goalscoring tally as the visitors progressed to the next round of the Central Wales Cup despite fielding only 10 players.
Roberts opened the scoring as early as the third minute when she latched on to an incisive Lily Davies pass before steering the ball home.
Davies twice went close to scoring herself before Penrhyn counter-attacked to level matters but Roberts restored Llanfyllin’s lead when she finished off some good work from Emma Davies before Lucy Bell also went close.
However, the hosts put themselves back on level pegging before the break with a tremendous dipping shot that arched into the net before Roberts took the game by the scruff of the neck late on.
She profited from a through ball by Teresa Clarke to complete her hat-trick in the 85th minute and rounded off the afternoon by scoring a wonderful solo effort to secure the win..
