South Lancs/Cheshire League Division Two
Ramsey Isle of Man 24, Oswestry Eagles 0

THE Oswestry Eagles suffered more away-day disappointment as they failed to register a first ever victory on the Isle of Man after coming away from Ramsey without so much as a try to show for their troubles.

With both sides currently sitting in mid-table, Oswestry’s hopes of an inaugural win would have been well founded, but in a side containing two debutants due to a lack of first team players making the trip it was the Ramsey side who registered a comprehensive result.

Oswestry now need to improve on their performance before they face tenth-placed Oldershaw at the Eagles’ Granville Park ground on Saturday and will hope their good home form will help them to put the disappointments of recent weeks behind them.

The Eagles began the game well, keeping Ramsey in their own half for the first quarter with young debutant Luca Owen-Youens marshalling the back line confidently and making a couple of strong defensive tackles at outside-half.

With the forwards supplying good ball around the contact area Oswestry looked like taking the game to Ramsey but after a couple of missed penalty kicks at goal, Ramsey started to gain more possession around the contact area and venture into the Oswestry half.
