Welsh Premier League
Newtown 1, The New Saints 1
NEW Saints striker Michael Wilde scored his ninth league goal of the season to help TNS salvage a draw at Newtown as they maintained an eight-point gap at the top of the Welsh Premier League table.
Wilde struck soon after the hour to register his fifth goal in four games as he met Chris Marriott’s corner to deliver a bullet header and preserve a six-game unbeaten run that has seen them steal a march on their rivals in the race for the championship.
Chris Williams had opened the scoring for the Robins who held on for a point as they came under pressure late in the game, but The New Saints will also be ruing missed opportunities having also been held to a draw at Bala in mid-week as they conceded a last minute equaliser after Wilde had twice put them in the driving seat.
