A SPATE of incidents in which cars and houses in Oswestry were daubed with paint has led to a police appeal for information.

Around 15 car owners and residents of three houses fell victim to the offenders who struck overnight last Wednesday.

The incident is being treated as criminal damage and police are urging people to come forward if they have any information which might help identify the offenders.

It was reported shortly after 3.15am on Thursday by a member of the public who spotted a car in York Street with white or magnolia paint on it.

Officers attended and found other vehicles had been daubed with fresh emulsion paint in the York Street, Liverpool Road, Ash Road, Lloyd Street and the Lorne Street area.
Three homes in Ash Road also had paint on windows.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: “We are carrying out inquiries in the area speaking to residents.
“We are also appealing for witnesses, and in particular, information about those responsible. The paint was still wet and fresh when first spotted. There is also the possibility the offender has paint on their hands or clothing and someone may notice a can of white or magnolia paint missing from home.”

Any information which might assist the investigation should be forwarded to Oswestry police station by calling 101, while details can also be given via the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
