WREXHAM have been inundated with job applications for the manager’s hotseat at The Racecourse.

There has been a huge amount of interest in the position since Kevin Wilkin was sacked as boss last Monday and the board of directors have had 70 plus CVs to go through.

The closing date for applications was Saturday and the club’s board will now whittle it down to a shortlist before beginning the interview process.

Craig Harrison (pictured left), who has led The New Saints to a fourth successive Welsh Premier League crown, has been installed as bookmakers’ 4/5 favourite, closely followed by former Reds’ ace Kevin Russell at 4/1.

Russell was assistant manager to ex-Reds’ skipper Darren Ferguson - another name in the running - at Peterborough where they enjoyed three promotions.

Mark Yates, Paul Cox and current Wrexham skipper Dean Keates are also thought to be among the leading candidates.

Harrison led TNS to the Welsh Cup final yesterday, following a 4-2 win over Airbus and would join up with the Reds current caretaker manager Carl Darlington if he were to be appointed.

Harrison has admitted to being ‘flattered’ by the interest shown in him for the vacant position at the Racecourse.
