Famous Shropshire folk singer and musician, John Kirkpatrick has teamed up with the Shropshire Youth Folk Ensemble to inspire these young musicians.
Together they will playing some of the traditional music from the Shropshire Tune Archive.
John found and researched this music as part of the Shrewsbury Folk Festival, All Together Now project.
John said: “I’m delighted that Shrewsbury Folk Festival have created this opportunity to work with the Shropshire Youth Folk Ensemble. It’s always good to share some of Shropshire’s wonderful traditional tunes”.
The Shropshire Youth Folk Ensemble features young musicians aged 10-17 years old who play a mix of instruments including fiddles, guitars, double bass, percussion and even djembe.
Two collaborative workshops are being held culminating in the first ever concert between John and the Shropshire Youth Folk Ensemble.
This special concert takes place on Saturday October 20 at 7.30pm at the Mereside Community Centre, Shrewsbury.
