CHIRK AAA will be back in action on Tuesday when Llandudno make the trip to Holyhead Road.

Both sides go into the game having spent much of the past month on the sidelines due to the wintery weather which has played havoc with the league schedule.

Chirk go into the game as underdogs against the promotion chasing north Wales coast side who have endured a turbulent campaign which has included forced exile at Bangor with the club's home ground condemned by the Football Association of Wales.

Chirk coach Gary Jones insisted the Colliers would be ready for the festive clash while the players continued to learn about life in the second tier.

The ex-Carno manager said: "We are happy to have picked up 12 points in the first half of the season, we feel we could have more from our performances but with it being the clubs first season in tier two we are happy to be learning and where we are."

Jones said Holyhead Road would play a key role in the club's survival bid in the New Year.

"Our home form has been solid and we know we have to build upon that after Christmas to stay in the division," said Jones.

"With the January transfer window due to open it hopefully presents an opportunity to add one or two fresh faces and assist the lads in their battle."

While survival and consolidation remained the key objective, Jones insisted the club had loftier aims and a mid-table finish in their first season in the league remained attainable.

Jones said: "Our aim is to push towards the middle of the table, which we believe we can do after the first half and finding our feet."
