A MAN has died in an incident outside Oswestry on Thursday but police officers say that it is not believed to be suspicious.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to Station Road in Weston Rhyn at around 6am after a report of a man found dead.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) paramedics and firefighters from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) also attended the scene.

A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed that a casualty was found at the scene.

They said: “British Transport Police received a report at 6am on Thursday, May 9 of a casualty on the tracks near Weston Rhyn. 

“Paramedics and Fire also attended.

“However, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The road was closed from around 6am until 8.30am while Transport for Wales trains between Wrexham and Shrewsbury were also affected.

A WMAS spokesman said: "We were called at 6am to an incident on the tracks nearby to Station Road, Weston Rhyn.

"A paramedic officer attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man.

"Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
