A NORTH Powys pre-school has received a glowing report in its latest inspection. 

Owlets Pre School, based at Carreghofa Primary School in Llanymynech, received excellent/good in all areas of its recent Estyn inspection, receiving excellent for well-being and care and development. 

In the Estyn report, which visited the school in October, it said that the children’s wellbeing was ‘excellent’ commenting that ‘nearly all children are exceptionally happy, settled and relaxed, and they benefit from practitioners who know them very well’.

The report also mentioned that care and development was ‘excellent’ because ‘practitioners’ interactions with children are outstanding’.

It added: “They speak respectfully with children and show exceptional interest, pleasure, and care in all that they do.” 

Libby Williams, pre-school leader, admitted the school was happy with the inspector’s findings.

She said: “We are delighted with the report, our vision for the setting is ‘Happy and Caring Together’ and this has been recognised by the inspectors!” 

Other achievements included good teaching and learning, offering a wide range of rich play opportunities based on the principles of Curriculum for Wales; a welcoming environment that provides a range of opportunities for children to play, learn and move freely between indoor and outdoor areas and good leadership, which has trusted relationship with parents.  

Claire Pritchard, responsible individual for Owlets and headteacher of Carreghofa school, praised the staff for their work.
