I THINK Marcus Rashford will be going to the World Cup in the summer; you can’t tell me there’s many better English players than him at coming off the bench to make a massive impact.
He’s got to go, but whether he has a run of games beforehand is difficult to say with Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku there.
Rashford is fighting for his place but he showed his potential on Saturday ¬– but that’s what it is, potential. He wants to play centre-forward but Lukaku is there already so he’s playing second/third fiddle to him and the others. He plays on the wing but it was nice to see him do well, although not too happy it was against Liverpool.
There was genuine talk two months ago he would miss out but he’s got out-and-out pace and that’s why he should go. He changes games, he’s young and he’s very enthusiastic.
The only problem with young players is when they come on and do well, there’s so much publicity about them. They’re put on a pedestal but when they don’t play well, they get knocked. It's one that English players have to live with but I hope we do get to see him go to the World Cup.
