Northern DivisionSouth Lancs/Cheshire Division Two Oswestry 1sts 66, Moore 1sts 0 OSWESTRY welcomed Moore firsts to Granville Park and ran out convincing winners after an impressive attacking display. The Eagles’ play exuded confidence throughout the game and their dominance was rewarded with four first half tries. Hamish Fuller scored the first of these after some deft manouvering allowed him to evade the visitors’ defence to cross the try line. Finn Grogan then ensured maximum points by despatching the conversion, before quickly adding to his kicking tally with two successful penalties. Fuller then added a second try after some superb support from his forwards and backs. The rapid Jack Fox was then set free by some intelligent play from the Oswestry backs allowing him to embark on a mesmerising run to score beneath the posts. The spectators were treated to some fine attacking rugby by the Eagles, with Moore struggling to contain Oswestry’s attacking threat. On the cusp of half-time James Booth scored an excellent try as he drove powerfully through the Moore backs and over the opposition’s try line to give his side a 32-0 lead at the interval. An early second half injury to James Booth allowed his replacement, the youthful Luca Owen Youens, to show his worth as he crossed the whitewash for Oswestry’s fifth try. The try of the match came ten minutes later and followed a penalty conceded by Moore on their own 10-metre line. Instead of kicking for touch, Grogan spotted Fox loitering in a dangerous position and kicked into the space behind the defence for his team mate to gather and cross the line again. A powerful rolling drive saw Oswestry propel Moore deep into their own territory and Mike Davies duly capitalised by diving over for another try. Fuller scored his third try of the game after combining well with Zac Baldwin, before the powerful Jonny Lee made a trademark bursting run to put Baldwin through and score again. In the closing stages of the game, Oswestry capped a vintage display with a final try as Youens powered his way down the flank through the Moore defence to touch down. Oswestry are at home to Ormskirk on Saturday. Kick off is at 3pm.
