Team Elite in Oswestry has had some huge success with a number of their fighters in two competitions, adding more titles to a growing collection of belts.

Saturday April 7 saw the return of the North American Grappling Association (NAGA), the world’s largest grappling tournament to the UK.

Two competitors from Team Elite made their way to Walsall to compete. Daryl Small, who is the beginners Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor at Elite, managed to win double gold after submitting all his opponents. He also recaptured the Flyweight expert belt for the second year running.

Matt White, also representing, Team Elite moved up a skill bracket, managing to place first in his No-Gi division and second in his Gi division.

Some of Team Elites up and coming grapplers set off for competition on Sunday April 8 at 10th Planet Jiu- Jitsu in Redditch.

Head coach Rich Cosgrove said: "They all did themselves and the club proud.

"Being their first jiu-jitsu matches, through their pure grit and determination they all gained valuable experience and seasoned professional Daryl Small came away with the win in his category, making his weekend a golden one.

Rich has recently come back from travelling in Japan to train with some of the top fighters in the world to gain insights and to bring that knowledge back to the Team Elite club.
