A Chirk swimming club is celebrating after entering its largest number of swimmers ever at the Crystal Meet Gala in Wrexham last Sunday.
Chirk Dragons Swimming Club took 30 competitors to the event which saw 12 teams from across Wales and the North West compete against each at Waterworld in Wrexham.
The Dragons swimmers entered 111 races, gaining 91 personal bests in races including backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley.
Head coach Steve Parker said he thought the number of personal bests would be lower at this gala because the club had competed at the regional championships in Llandudno only four weeks ago. However, he need not have worried.
“The Dragons once again really showed their metal,” said Steve. “I am incredibly proud of all the swimmers we have, including many young ones on Sunday who are only just entering into the world of competitive swimming galas.”
