A YOUNG runner from Ellesmere has presented a cheque to her school’s headteacher.
Millie Humphreys raised £1,070 for Ellesmere Primary School by running one-and-a-half miles around The Mere.
She did so well that her fundraising efforts expanded beyond going towards resources for Class Three and Four, of which she is a pupil, but also towards library and play equipment.
The eight-year-old presented her cheque to headteacher Andrew Everett last week.
On top of receiving a big thank you, Millie has also received letters of support from the team at BBC TV shows Newsround and Blue Peter – which has previously presented her with a sought-after Blue Peter badge, while The New Saints football club from Oswestry went a step further by sending her a video of support and tickets to a home football match with the chance to meet the players.
