The REPORTED deal for £900 million between the Football Association and Fulham’s owner Shahid Khan could be a good one provided the money is put towards the very bottom of the footballing pyramid.

That is grassroots football and anything that can be given towards making that better should be good. It’s a positive move.

If it does happen although we don’t know what the private contract would be, it could see the England national team go back on the road again.

Plus the FA Cup semi-finals could go back to a different neutral venue, which is something I quite miss. For many years, the games were always held at Hillsborough, Villa Park, even Highbury and of Maine Road, which is Manchester City’s old ground.

Old Trafford got used as well and I think you do take a bit of gloss of the final – Wembley should be for the final only.

With the semi-finals, plus Tottenham playing all their home games too, I think the shine has been taken off playing the final at Wembley.

Pick two suitable venues for whomever gets into the final as take it back to how it was.

The FA, in hindsight, probably didn’t need to spend that much money on a national stadium, as much it is a fantastic venue. It could have been much more central, that was the argument, but at the end of the day, England needed a stadium.

That stadium should be something to be proud of but while it would be good to see England on the road, it’s important to have a home.
