A young footballer from Oswestry School has been selected to represent England.

Jac Herbert will compete at the Under-14 Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) National representative side in August.

The Year 8 pupil sn’t a stranger to the pressures of football and has played for Shrewsbury Town FC Academy since 2016, which stood him in good stead for the trials he had to compete in before being selected for the team.

Jac will now travel to Oakham School, Rutland to compete in an Academy Tournament.

The teams have competed against Manchester City, ESFA Scotland and England, Leicester City, Real Madrid, Celtic and have experienced many other memorable occasions that allow players to progress and develop onto future pathways.

Head of Sport at Oswestry School, Dominic Bradburne, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Jac; not many boys have the chance to represent their country in sport.

"This will be an enjoyable, stimulating, football-filled experience.

"The department put forward several boys from the school to trial and I am delighted that Jac has this chance after all the hard work he has put in.”
