So WE’RE finally going to see the end of Arsene Wenger’s term as Arsenal manager when it was announced he was going to step down.

I was looking at his record as manager and the trophies he’s won. He’s been fantastic and his sides have always played the right way with free-flowing football.

He’s brought players into the club that have been the highlight of the Premier League and he seems to be a good man. He knows how to deal with certain types of players who can give other teams trouble and is just a football man.

Even with the statement he put out it shows how much he cares for the club, which is probably why he’s taken so long to make this decision to let his football team go. The last few seasons have possibly soured because of the fans holding up ‘Wenger Out’ banners which is poor for someone who’s done so much for their football club, in the same way as Sir Alex Ferguson did at Manchester United.

You want to see Wenger go out on a high and it would be good to see Arsenal lift the Europa League at the end of the season, which would be a fitting end for him. The fights between Arsenal and Manchester United are probably the last time football was truly exciting because of how close the teams were. This year, Manchester City have walked the league but years ago, United, Arsenal etc would take it to the wire.

It was an exciting end to the season come May and the rivalry between the two, whether they liked each other or not, transferred to the players culminating with the Battle of Old Trafford. Each time they played, you never knew who would come out on top and at the moment, there’s not many rivalries like that.

His best moment has to be the Invincibles season, where they didn’t lose a game. You know he knew his best team as it barely changed. It was a huge achievement and the superstars of that team rolled off the tongue. I’m sure Arsenal will do their work to make sure the right person takes control with the right way of playing. Their first charge is to sort the defence out as while Arsenal have some really good offensive players, they need to tweak things defensively.
