I THINK if you're being realistic and put the teams in the order of who they would like to play, Liverpool will be very happy with that Champions League semi-final draw.

They certainly didn't want to play Bayern Munich or Real Madrid but then again, Roma had a great result against Barcelona and are a good team so Liverpool wouldn't want any complacency setting in.

Roma are a strong side with some really good players – ex-Premier League players – and they play 3-5-2 with wing-backs. Italian teams like to have a strong base and can go to a back five if needed.

Mo Salah will be back at Roma too and it will be a fascinating semi-final.

However, if you put the two teams on paper, I think Liverpool will have enough to do a job over the two legs and get into a final.

A second leg might be better suited to Liverpool's counter attacking style but you would prefer to have your home leg second, to allow the Reds to go to Rome and sit in before the second leg at home.

They can bring them back to Anfield and anything can happen.

Both teams will have a game plan and will no doubt know what they're doing. I'm sure Jurgen Klopp is as excited as anyone and all the Liverpool fans I heard talking on the radio are really happy with the draw.

They think it's the easiest one they could have got. But if you're going to win the Champions League, you've got to beat everyone, haven't you? Whoever gets through, it'll make for a really good final.

There's good and bad omens. For example, apparently, the last time teams from these nations got to the final was in 1981 when Liverpool won. But as said last week, Klopp's last final was against Jupp Heynckes, who is leaving Bayern (again).

I'm not sure about omens; I remember one about AC Milan players touching the cup before 2005.

At the end of the day, fans will be split over whether Roma is a good draw as some will be cautious and some will think it's the easiest of the two.

But as long as the players and the management have their heads on it, I'm looking forward to it being a good spectacle.

I hope so.
